The 1996-97 NBA season was the Pacers' 21st season in the NBA and 30th season as a franchise.〔(1996-97 Indiana Pacers )〕 The team struggled and finished sixth in the Central Division with a 39-43 record, missing the playoffs. Reggie Miller led the league in three-point field goals (229). Mid-season, the Pacers brought back playmaker Mark Jackson after a brief stint with the Denver Nuggets. Jackson would remain in Indiana until 2000, where the team reached the NBA Finals. He led the league in assists for the season (11.4). This was also Larry Brown's final year coaching the Pacers, as he would coach the Philadelphia 76ers next season. ==Offseason==
